VR tech is everywhere now. With the popularity of peripherals like the Oculus Rift and other entry-level hardware, it’s easier than ever to check out what virtual reality has to offer. Plus, more developers than ever before are building games, apps, and experiences for VR that truly push the boundary of what the technology can offer.

That said, new owners of VR hardware can’t simply boot up their new purchase and get to exploring virtual reality. It’s important to make sure you’re in the best space possible for the virtual experience. That’s why we have these 5 tips to run the best VR experience ready for you to ensure you have a great time with your new technology.

From cable considerations to the room you use for VR, these tips will make sure you have the best VR experience possible.

Managing Cables for VR

Let’s face it, VR is really cool because many of the headsets come with self-supported peripherals that don’t need a PC. There is likely to be a cable, however, that connects your equipment together such as your handsets and headset as well as things that can hook your phone up to the VR peripheral.

We highly suggest taking time to plan out some cable management for two reasons. Firstly, it’ll keep your setup looking clean. Plus, you won’t lose essential cables if they get set somewhere they’re not supposed to be. Organization is key for a good VR experience!

Placing your VR Sensor in the Perfect Spot

For VR to run smoothly, you’ll need to find a good place to place your VR sensor if your hardware includes one. These are likely found in setups that interact with a video game console or PC, but they can come with self-sufficient setups too.

Make sure your sensor is at an eye level and central to the room you’re using VR in. This way, you’ll be able to get the full 360 degree experience of virtual reality while still allowing the hardware to keep track of your movements.

Picking the Right Room for VR

While we’re on the topic of room considerations, where is the best place to use VR?

It’s pretty simple actually. You’ll want to be in an open room with space to move your legs and your arms around. This way, you won’t break anything. Plus, if you need to use a video game console or PC to set up your device, you’ll want to make sure you’re in a room with the necessary hookups. Other than that, the perk of VR headsets is that you can use them just about anywhere!

Two Possible Accessories to Pick Up

There are two things we recommend grabbing for the ultimate VR experience. Firstly, a USB extension cable might be handy if you have a cable setup that requires you to stay hard-wired into a power source or output like a PC. This way, you’re not limited by a small amount of room to move.

Secondly, we recommend wall mounting your TV or PC monitor if you plan on using your VR often. This way, you’re not held back by a desk or TV stand that can take up space and possibly be a hazard as you experience VR games and apps.

Invite Others to Experience VR With You

The last thing we recommend for a great VR experience is free: friends or family! There’s nothing like sharing the joys of VR with others so make sure you invite others to play with your new setup.

People are still amazed at what VR can do and there’s no reason you shouldn’t give it a go with a friend or family. It’s one of the best ways to share the hobby with others and hopefully get them to start participating as well!
