Samsung has introduced two additions to its mid-range A-series in India, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G. The intention is plain enough: to offer features that resemble those of more expensive devices, while keeping the price within reach of a broader public. Both models follow on from last year’s Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36, and continue in much the same direction.

In outward form and general specification, the two phones are strikingly similar. One could handle them side by side and find little to separate them at first. Yet the distinction is not accidental. The A57 is set a little higher, both in its positioning and its capabilities, while the A37 serves as the more economical choice.

Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 Pricing and color choices

The difference becomes clearer when one looks at the pricing. The A57 does away with a lower storage tier and begins directly at 256GB, carrying a price of Rs 56,999. The A37, meanwhile, offers a more flexible starting point, with a 128GB variant priced at Rs 41,999, making it easier to enter.

Their color options differ as well, though this is largely a matter of appearance rather than substance. The A57 is offered in Awesome Navy, Awesome Icyblue, and Awesome Lilac. The A37 comes in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, and Awesome Graygreen. Such variations may appeal to taste, but they do not alter the essential purpose of either device.

Both the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G share the same 6.7-inch FHD+ display. It comes with Vision Booster, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and support for HDR10+. The brightness reaches 1,900 nits at its peak. Samsung has also used Gorilla Glass Victus+ for protection. There is no real difference here between the two devices.

The battery is the same as well. Each phone carries a 5,000mAh unit. Samsung says it can last up to two days on a single charge. That claim may invite some doubt, especially when other phones now offer batteries of 7,000mAh or more. Still, both models support 45W fast charging, which should make short work of refilling the battery.

On the software side, both phones run One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. This is the latest version Samsung provides at present. The company also promises long-term support. Each device will receive six years of updates, including operating system upgrades. That is not a small commitment.

The camera system is largely the same on both phones. Each one carries a triple-camera setup at the back. There is, however, a single point of difference, which becomes clearer on closer inspection. For selfies, both devices use a 12MP front camera. In this respect, at least, they remain identical.

Where the two models start to diverge

Now we come to the point where the two phones part ways. They share much, but not everything. The display, though similar in size, is not quite the same. The Galaxy A57 uses a Super AMOLED+ panel, while the A37 settles for a Super AMOLED one. The result should be a screen that appears a little brighter and more vivid on the A57. Yet in ordinary use, the difference may be slight, and not always easy to see.

The change is clearer in the camera. The ultra-wide lens on the A57 carries a 12MP sensor. The A37 has an 8MP unit instead. This gives the A57 an advantage in wide scenes, such as landscapes or group shots. It may also serve better when travelling. The rest of the cameras remain unchanged. Both phones include a 50MP main sensor and a 5MP macro lens. It is a capable arrangement, though not without limits. There is no telephoto camera. At this price, one might expect it. Its absence affects portraits and zoomed images. The setup, in the end, suits casual use more than serious work.

Performance, chipset, and thermal management upgrades

The A57 also takes the lead in performance. It runs on the new Exynos 1680 chipset, which reaches speeds of up to 2.9GHz. Samsung pairs it with the Xclipse 550 GPU. The company claims it offers a modest gain over the earlier Exynos 1580. Whether this improvement proves noticeable will depend on how the device is used.

Taken as a whole, the Galaxy A57 should offer a clear step forward in performance. The Galaxy A37, by contrast, relies on the Exynos 1480, the same chip used in the Galaxy A55 from 2024. It is not a new design. Because of this, it may fall short of other phones now sold in the same range. Still, its actual performance will depend on how it handles daily use.

Samsung has also made changes to heat management. Both phones now include a vapour chamber measuring 3.558mm². This is the same size as the one used in the Galaxy S25+. It should help control heat during gaming and other heavy tasks. The A57, in addition, is both slimmer and lighter. This makes it easier to hold for longer periods without strain.

Design refinements, build quality, and durability improvements

Both models are also among the thinnest in the A-series so far. Each measures 6.9mm and uses a metal frame. Durability has seen some improvement as well. Samsung now includes an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water. These changes do not alter the nature of the phones, but they do make them more practical in everyday use.

AI tools and software capabilities

Both phones include a set of software features built around AI. There is an Object Eraser, which removes unwanted elements from a photo. There is also Best Face, which helps improve group shots by choosing better expressions from several frames. These tools aim to make small corrections without much effort.

Circle to Search with Google is present as well. It can now recognize more than one object at a time. This makes it easier to understand what appears on the screen, without the need to move between apps. AI Select serves a similar purpose. It lets users pull out text or interact with what they see. It also works with multi-window drag-and-drop, which helps when handling more than one task.

There are other additions. Voice transcription converts recorded speech into written text. This can be useful for meetings or lectures. Samsung has also refined Bixby and tied it more closely with Gemini. The aim is to allow a more natural way of controlling the device, though how well this works will depend on use.

The choice between the two phones is, in the end, a simple one. The Galaxy A57 5G suits those who want a lighter device, a stronger ultra-wide camera, and better performance. The Galaxy A37 5G offers much the same experience at a lower cost. It may appeal to those who prefer to spend less.

Even so, there are other options in the market. Some may offer faster performance, more flexible cameras, or larger batteries. It is worth considering these before making a decision.

Final Words

Finally, the new mid-range pair at Samsung does not seem to be a competition but rather brothers with slightly different budgets. The Galaxy A57 5G takes a step forward with a touch more polish, a bit more muscle and a camera that makes a little more effort, whereas the Galaxy A37 5G keeps things sensible to those who would rather save money than make marginal gains.

Both Samsung Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G have sufficient DNA to provide a familiar, reliable experience, but neither is much of a rewrite of the mid-range rulebook. Long software support, slim builds, and AI tools are all modern. The buyers will then need to make a decision on whether incremental upgrades are worth the additional expenditure. In any case, Samsung has presented two worthy choices.
