When it comes to TV and how they survive, broadcaster’s revenue depends on the advertisements they get. When we particularly talk about cable TV, the DVR has changed the game altogether. People now prefer to watching the content of their choice later by using DVR which means they get to watch content without advertisement and can watch without the limitation of time. Now even the advertisers are realizing this fact, which is why the TV channels have to charge them very less which ultimately means less revenue. This is the reason why TV channels need to improvise and come up with new strategies that can help them earn more.

Well, as per the trends and what they are indicating for the long term, the number of people who watch TV will eventually decline heavily, and the TV might completely vanish. Though, it will not happen quickly and might take some time. For the reason that there are still some commendable cable TV providers in the market like Spectrum TV, cox TV, Mediacom cable, Xfinity TV, and others such that still have millions of subscribers and satisfied customers across the country for a long long time. Thus, at one point in the near future, the broadcasters will need to shift to digital streaming. This is when they have to decide how to survive in the market because the revenue from ads will drastically cut down.

However, digital streaming has different challenges to face like one needs to have a very high speed of internet connection in order to experience a smooth and quality streaming. Whereas, a lot of regions in America don’t have full access to the internet with a faster and stable speed which can eventually become a challenge for online streaming services. This also means that till the time everyone doesn’t have access to a stable internet connection, cable TV service is not disappearing from the horizon and the need for TV will remain in the market.

Once we all used to solely depend on TV for entertainment. However, things have changed now and are expected to alter completely in a couple of next years. We don’t have to entirely depend on TV channels as there are many alternatives for cable TV are easily available in the marketing. One major drawback of cable TV service is to pay heavy bills even for the premium channels we barely get to watch. Therefore, cutting the cord is highly considered by many people to save bills every month. A great number of people have already switched completely or partially where some are using both cable TV services and online streaming to get both of the worlds.

The most admired aspect of online streaming services is watching at your own pace, so you don’t have to wait for the show to be broadcasted or repeated and the customers can watch their favorite content whenever and countless times. Also, the fact that there is no advertisement being displayed while watching the content which means NO interruptions. But one factor which has its good side and a bad both is, that online streaming services have their own produced content which is exclusively available for their customers. The bad side is not too bad but for conventional cable TV users and sports lovers, it can be a deal-breaker when they do not get to watch the local channels, live broadcasts of their long-awaited sports, and traditional shows that are available on cable TV only.

For many that have switched and may switch in the future, the cons of cable TV service will remain the hefty bills but nobody can deny the additional features and traditional content. Also, the broadcast of cable TV content is relatively smoother than online streaming because it is not dependant on an internet connection. Yes, you do not get to see the ads but what if you miss the most important scene or climax because the internet signals dropped? So, the factor that sets cable TV service apart is also its survival factor which is the availability of the internet and then stable enough to carry out live streaming for hours.

Conclusion

As an ending note, I would conclude that old satellites will choose to switch to the internet. One major deciding factor would be the availability of the internet to every region in the country. For instance, this is the reason that will decide the future of the survival of cable TV. If rural areas don’t get complete access to the internet connection they will have to be dependent on TV. As the internet they use is usually satellite internet or mobile hotspot which doesn’t work for online streaming services.
