Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde, a celebrated scholar and academic, devoted her life to advancing the field of matter science & engineering. She was delivered on September 20, 1936, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Died on May 17, 2021, Ildaura was 84 when her death occurred.

Murillo earned a bachelor’s degree in alchemy from Columbia’s National University in 1958. Ildaura subsequently migrated to the U.S. to achieve graduate studies. Securing a master’s degree in alchemy through the University of Maryland in 1961. Ph.D. in physical alchemy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1965.

After finishing her Ph.D., Dr. Murillo Rohde initiated an educational vocation for her as an assistant professor. In the alchemy at the University of Puerto Rico, where she instructed from 1965 to 1970.

Often moved as a staff in the University of Delaware, she spent the remainder of her career there, eventually becoming the Edward G. Jefferson Chair in Engineering and Matter Science & Engineering.
