Today we talk about 3D drawings, or more technically the software for the 3D design. By now these programs have become the tools of the trade for digital designers, as they were once the canvas and the brushes for a painter or the wood for a craftsman.

Seeing around the potentials and opportunities of work that can arise from the use of these software (which, let me say, are so many), you’re wondering what may be the most suitable to meet the demands of a market increasingly attentive to design trends and attention to detail. Well, in this article you will find the answers you are looking for.

3d drawings, to begin with here is a list of the most used software

  • 3ds Max
  • Blender
  • Rhinoceros,
  • Revit (dedicated to architectural design)
  • Sketch up
  • Sweet home 3d
  • Cinema 4D
  • Maya (dedicated to 3d animations)

All the aforementioned software allow you to create object designs and real interior decorating scenes, exteriors and whatever comes to mind. There is also other software that allows you to create real digital sculptures, such as Zbrush and his freeware version Sculptress and there are even software that allows you to create clothes like Marvelous Designer.

Let’s find out more about the plans to make 3D drawings

3ds Max of Autodesk, can be considered one of the most complete and complex software and for this a little expensive, a license for use for a year costs € 1950; however, to master this instrument means to feel able to make any idea become reality.

It embraces everything that can be expected from a 3D animation and design software and has a set of valid tools between plug-ins and rendering engines, which have made it the favourite of movie houses and TV productions. 3ds Max has been used for scenes or parts of movies like Iron Man, 2012, X-Men, Transformers, Avatar and many others.

At this point, it is right that you explain what are the plug-ins and rendering engines

The plug-ins are nothing but the add-ons that enhance the functionality of the software. Not to be missed, when using 3ds Max, is the Phoenix FD plug-in, which allows you to create, for example, sea waves, paint, fire and smoke.

The rendering engines (Vray is the most used for 3ds Max) are instead of the computers through which we obtain the final product, called precisely rendering. That is, the final image or movie.

If the potential of Autodesk 3ds Max intrigued you, but the cost is holding back a bit ‘, know that there is a valid alternative: Blender

Blender. It is the free and open source alternative to 3ds Max, was initially created for those who used the Linux operating system, but it is easily compatible and always updated for Windows. It has an intuitive interface and offers the possibility to create any type of object desired. You can download the program for free directly on the official website.

Rhinoceros. The worthy competitor of the two above mentioned software, allows a more targeted use to obtain models of objects optimized for 3D printing. It is interesting to know that Rhinoceros is very used, among other things, for the creation of jewellery.

If your passion is architecture and design of buildings, I suggest you focus on Revit. Revit is another product provided by Autodesk. This software replaces paper and pencil in the design of new construction. Not only that: it is also able to calculate the materials to be used, the weight of the structure and the structural risks of the construction. Now used very much by surveyors and architects.

If the software listed so far seem very complicated, I still propose two solutions that can do for you. Please note that these tools, although valid have limitations compared to previous ones.

Do the 3D design software we listed seem complicated? So let’s talk about Sketchup and Sweet home 3D

Sketchup is a software designed to simplify life during the design phase of a living space. It comes with a simple interface and, after a few clicks, you can already see the first elements in the scene. It has a library of commonly used objects.

Sweet home 3D is a very good alternative to Sketchup. It is an open source project, constantly updated and easy to use and is really very complete and intuitive. Like the previous one, it has a rich library of objects that allow in a few minutes to assemble an interior scene.

Finally it is a must that you also note Cinema 4D

Cinema 4D started a little ‘quietly but year after year has gained more and more users. It is a software for the complete 3D design and, above all, easy and intuitive to use. It allows you to really create everything and assemble beautiful scenes.

And if your passion is the characters, I cannot forget Maya

Maya is another Autodesk home jewel software. The interface is very similar to that of 3Ds Max, which makes it not really intuitive. But I guarantee you, that if you master it, you can create really beautiful characters and scenes.

  3. I’m impressed, I have to say. Really not often do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have got hit the nail on the head. Your idea is excellent; the problem is one thing that not sufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am very completely satisfied that I stumbled throughout this in my search for something referring to this.
