Samsung Electronics has begun manufacturing heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment in India for the rapidly growing needs of AI data centres. A new facility in Pune has now been completed for this purpose, although the company has chosen not to disclose the amount invested in setting it up.

Pune Plant Set to Supply HVAC Systems Across Asia-Pacific

The Pune plant is also intended to serve markets beyond India, with its output destined for countries across the Asia-Pacific region. Operations at the facility will be handled by FläktGroup, the Samsung-owned company specialising in air movement and climate-control systems. The plant marks FläktGroup’s first new manufacturing operation since Samsung Electronics acquired the company in November.

Cheolgi Kim, executive vice president and head of Samsung’s digital appliance business, said “The completion of the production line in Pune marks a significant milestone in expanding our HVAC supply beyond India to the broader Asia-Pacific region.” He said Samsung would combine its AI and platform technology with FläktGroup’s knowledge of HVAC systems to serve customers ranging from AI data centres to other industries.

AI Data Centre Demand Drives New HVAC Production Capacity

The factory reached mass production only six months after workers began installing its equipment. FläktGroup plans to raise output gradually, with an eventual capacity of 6,500 HVAC units a year. The Pune plant will make air handling units, fan wall units and computer air handlers. These systems are intended for AI data centres and other infrastructure where failure is not an option. FläktGroup also operates a plant in Greater Noida.
