Cricket is one of the most appreciable sports worldwide. It has been successful in keeping its its fans and followers engaged for ages. Cricket is the most watched sports in the world which is favourite to millions of people, be it an adolescent or an old adult. Whenever a cricket match begins, millions of Indian cricket lovers tune in to watch the cricketing video in order to entertain themselves. Spinners are the masters of trickery in cricket. While fast bowling depends on the power and speed of the players, spinners are required to be more tactful and intelligent. Spin-bowling is an art which has been developed since the creation of cricket.

There are various ways a spinner may follow, such as, off-spin, leg-break, the conventional left-arm, and unconventional left-arm. Spin bowlers or in simple terms, spinners generally rotate the ball to get a batsman out. The spin on the ball makes its movement difficult to predict, in particular when it can bounce. Thus, spinners use this trick to compel the batsmen into making a mistake. Speed is not essential in spin bowling, and spinners normally tend to bowl in the medium to slow range.

The top spinners in cricket who have created records over the centuries are as follows:

  1. Anil Kumble: Anil Kumble is a former Indian cricket captain who is recognised as one of the most talented leg spin bowlers the world of cricket has ever seen. He is considered to be the fourth highest wicket taker of all time. Kumble is a right-arm leg spinner with an unconventional style.  He started his career as a fast bowler and his distinct style of bowling made him a versatile bowler and one of the greatest spinners. Kumble holds the famous record of bowling 40,850 balls in his entire Test career.  He was successful in taking 956 wickets in his career.  He was an inventive bowler having the talent of picking wickets flawlessly. His bowling techniques used to create terror even in the minds of the most extraordinary batsmen. In a match against Pakistan, Kumble made a record of taking ten wickets in an innings. In 2015, he was introduced into the ICC Hall of Fame.
  2. Shane Warne: Shane Warne, the legend of the Australian cricket world, is undoubtedly one of the greatest leg spinners in the entire world. He was an efficient right-arm leg spin bowler and also a right-handed batsman. Many cricketers aspire to learn the spinning method of Shane Warne. He was the first bowler to make a record of taking 700 test wickets.  Warne is popularly known to have made appearances in 145 Test matches, taken 708 wickets and created the record of taking maximum number of wickets by  any bowler in Test cricket, until 2007. He was a master of leg spinning in his playing career. Warne has been named twice in the Wisden Cricketers of the Year and also elected twice as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World, for his outstanding performances. ‘The ball of the century’ proves that he was the person who created one of the best defining moments in the history of cricket.
