How I Boosted My Gaming FPS Dramatically Using Smart Game Booster: A Personal Review

I’ve been PC gaming for close to a decade, and if there’s one thing that will make me rage-quit faster than a bad teammate, it’s frame drops in the middle of a firefight. A few months ago my rig an Intel Core i7-6700 with 32GB of RAM but only integrated graphics on one machine and an aging GPU on another started choking on newer titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Fortnite. Rather than immediately dropping money on new hardware, I decided to actually test whether software optimization could close the gap. I installed Smart Game Booster, ran it for three straight weeks across my regular game rotation, and documented exactly what happened at each step. This is that walkthrough, screenshots included.

Getting Started: Adding My Games to the Library

The first thing I noticed after installing the app was how clean the dashboard felt. My existing library Counter-Strike 2, Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Rocket League, Battlefield 6, Fall Guys, and Valorant was auto-detected within seconds, each one shown as a cover-art tile with live CPU, GPU, disk, and motherboard load meters running along the bottom of the window.

For the one title the scanner missed a local build I use for testing I used the “Add Local Game” tile. It opened a simple dialog asking for the game name, the executable path (with a Browse button so I didn’t have to hunt through folders manually), and optional launch parameters. Thirty seconds later it was sitting in my library alongside everything else.

Turning On Acceleration Before My Black Ops 7 Sessions

Black Ops 7 was my real stress test, since it was the game hitching the hardest on my setup. Clicking into the game’s dedicated page inside 

Smart Game Booster opened a clean control panel with two toggles: Network Acceleration and PC Boost, plus a Super Boost slider underneath. I left Network Acceleration off since I play on wired fiber with already-low ping, but I flipped PC Boost on and hit “Accelerate Now.” This FPS Booster immediately started working through its optimization queue, showing a live percentage as it freed up resources in the background.

When it finished, I got a results screen showing exactly what changed: an 11% reduction in CPU overhead, 1.8GB of RAM released back to the system, confirmation my drivers were already current, and an overall performance gain estimated at 19%. From there I could launch the game directly or restore my previous settings with one click. In practice, that 19% translated into noticeably fewer micro-stutters during large multiplayer lobbies the kind of improvement that’s genuinely felt, not just a number on a screen.

Running a Full System Optimization

Beyond per-game acceleration, the Performance tab lets you run a broader system-level pass covering System Clean, System Tweak, Driver Update, and Game Defrag. I left all four checked for my first run and hit Scan.

The scan ran through each category sequentially, with a small hourglass icon marking items still in the queue. It flagged 1,108 leftover files eating 1.4GB of disk space almost immediately, then moved on to checking my Windows tweaks and drivers.

Once finished, the results were broken down clearly: 1,108 junk items still pending removal, 47 system tweaks available, my drivers already up to date, and no fragmented game files found. I unchecked Driver Update and Game Defrag since there was nothing for them to do, left System Clean and System Tweak checked, and clicked Fix.

The fix completed in under a minute, clearing 510 items (1.3GB) and applying all 47 tweaks, each marked with a green checkmark when done.

Checking Compatibility Before Installing New Games

Before I sink download time into a new title, I like to know upfront whether my hardware can handle it. The Can I Run It tool reads your system specs automatically — in my case an Intel Core i7-6700 at 3.40GHz, Intel HD Graphics 530, 32GB of RAM, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit — and compares them against any game’s published requirements.

I searched Fortnite as a test case. Against the minimum requirements, my system passed every category, including the graphics card, with green checkmarks straight down the line.

Against the recommended requirements, though, the picture changed. My CPU, RAM, and platform still passed comfortably, but my integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 fell short of the recommended Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD R9 280 tier, and the tool flagged it in red. That single result told me more in five seconds than an hour of forum-searching would have, and it’s exactly the kind of honest, specific reporting I want from a tool before I commit to a purchase or a long download.

Keeping My Account and PC Locked Down

Performance is only half the story if your account gets compromised mid-season, so I spent time in the Guard tab as well. It’s split into three panels: Security Guard, Account Guard, and Diagnosis.

Clicking into Security Guard confirmed both antivirus protection and firewall protection were active and toggled on, with a reassuring “Your PC is fully protected” message up top.

Account Guard is the piece I found most relevant to competitive gaming specifically, since it scans for tracking cookies and credential risks that could expose account or trade data. On my first scan it flagged one tracking cookie tied to a browsing session, listed clearly under “Cookies: Potential risk of privacy leak.” One click on Remove cleared it, with a simple confirmation screen closing the loop.

My Honest Takeaway

After three weeks of running everything through Smart Game Booster from per-game acceleration to full system tweaks, compatibility checks, and account security scans my experience was consistently positive, with the caveat that no software substitutes for a genuine hardware upgrade when your GPU is simply below spec, as the Fortnite recommended-requirements check made clear on my own machine. 

What it did do well was claw back CPU headroom and RAM that Windows and background processes were quietly hoarding, and the FPS Booster feature in particular made a measurable difference in Black Ops 7’s busiest lobbies. If you’re gaming on hardware that’s a year or two behind the curve and want to squeeze out what performance is actually available before spending money on new parts, it’s worth the fifteen minutes it takes to run through every tab.
