Xiaomi has brought out the Mijia Strong Air Super 1.5 HP air conditioner in China. The price is set at 2,699 yuan, or about $395, and sales are due to begin on JD.com from April 28.
Inside the unit is a 13cc dual-cylinder compressor with a larger displacement than usual. This is said to improve stability at lower frequencies by 30 percent, while also cutting noise by around 5 percent. The system also makes use of dual-row evaporators and condensers built from pure copper. The condenser, being the more critical part, offers a heat exchange surface that is roughly 75 percent greater, which in turn should aid both cooling and heating.
Airflow Innovation for Faster, Smarter Cooling
The airflow arrangement has been altered as well. A fan measuring 118mm in diameter works with two air deflectors to produce airflow reaching up to 900 cubic metres per hour. Xiaomi claims the unit can cool a room in 15 seconds and warm it in 30. Cooling is delivered in a canopy-like spread to avoid direct drafts, while heating is directed along the floor, in a manner that feels more even.
Built for Extremes: Performance in Harsh Weather Conditions

The machine is built to operate under strain. It can continue cooling in temperatures up to 55°C and provide heating when conditions fall as low as -15°C. The aim, it seems, is to ensure steady performance where ordinary units might falter.
The unit carries a top-tier energy rating and records an APF of 6.01. With the help of Xiaomi’s Lingyun energy-saving system, it is said to reduce yearly power use by as much as 344 kWh. The claim is not dramatic, but it suggests a machine built to waste less rather than do more.
AI Integration and Smart Home Connectivity
It operates within the HyperOS Connect system and includes an AI-based control module. This allows for more measured adjustments, along with over-the-air updates and remote fault checks through the cloud. It also fits into Xiaomi’s wider range of smart home devices and can be controlled by voice, which is now expected rather than remarkable.
In its outward form, the design is simple and deliberate. The indoor unit measures 865 by 330 by 219 mm and weighs 11.5 kg, while the outdoor section is larger at 852 by 565 by 331 mm and weighs 27 kg. It supports both vertical and horizontal air movement. There is a self-cleaning mode that uses heat up to 58°C, along with a function to prevent the sudden release of cold air.
Expanding the Lineup: A Floor-Standing Alternative
Alongside this, Xiaomi has introduced another model, a smart floor-standing air conditioner. It too works with HyperOS and places some emphasis on stronger airflow, though the idea behind it remains much the same.
Final Words
In a market where air conditioners tend to vary more in branding than content, Xiaomi seems to be pushing the category towards something a little more considerate. The Mijia Strong Air Super is not only fast, but also leans towards efficiency, durability, and a silently growing smart ecosystem. The bigger picture is to make it comfortable, smarter, and a little less wasteful. It has a certain appeal too in the way the machine strikes a balance between ambition and restraint. In a world that is moving towards smarter homes, this AC is not so much of a standalone appliance but another component of a connected lifestyle.
