To make its device a success in the Indian market Huawei is already conducting 5G trials in India in partnership with Airtel. During the trial, the Airtel’s Network Experience Centre in Manesar (Gurugram) was able to achieve a user throughput of 3Gbps. Furthermore, the company is also expected to introduce a 5G hotspot device in Q2 2019.

In 2019 the Chinese brand is gearing up to launch their 5G-ready devices. The very first device from the brand to become 5G ready is expected to be OnePlus 7. According to one of the spokesperson, OnePlus will start launching 5G devices in the first half of 2019. This could mean that at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona this year can expect a new line of 5G devices. For customers, it means they have to shell out more money as OnePlus is seen marking up the prices of their phones higher. With 5G capability, OnePlus devices will definitely cost more.

You never expect a brand to take over the Indian smartphone market as Xiaomi did. No wonder the brand is all geared up to introduce their first smartphone supporting 5G networks in India. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is confirmed by the Chinese manufacturer to bring 5G support for the Indian smartphone users. The new device will be powered by the next generation QUALCOMM snapdragon 855 chipset and will have 10 GB RAM. Xiaomi President Lei Jun also shared the images of the rumoured 5G Mi Mix 3 on Weibo. The device is expected to pick the Indian markets in Q3 2019.

Another Chinese smartphone brand Vivo is next in line to introduce 5G smartphones in India in 2019. Recently we saw the Vivo Nex S smartphone fitted with the QUALCOMM X50 modem. Also in an announcement Vivo told that the first phase of 5G device development protocol is complete and the company is working on an actual 5G phone that is expected to be commercially released in 2019.
